This assignment was definitely an exploration of new technology and techniques that have been a hot-topic in the art world recently. AI is a controversial tool that many artists may consider "cheating" but for this piece we were pushed to explore how it can enhance one's art when it is not the main focus. In addition, we used an unintentional piece of technology that has been around a long time in order to intentionally add another layer, by breaking digital files. I wanted my piece to embody both of these aspects, as well as my own flare, and I thought what could be more serendipitous and unpredictable than an RPG fantasy adventure. My final pieces are a series of depictions of various characters and scenes in a fantasy kingdom of not only magic but mundane, and a place that technology may not belong. The images generated by AI, and then edited and enhanced show a whimsy and ancient scene far from the modern world, while the glitches add a sort of eerie, haunting aspect that isnt supposed to be there. Overall, I wanted to have fun with this and my lack of control, but I did want my art to hint at the techniques used to make it.
